Is there anyone doing PEM fuel cell modeling with Fluent?
I found there is no way to avoid species crossover through the membrane. Fluent takes the whole domain for computation, and does not allow users to deactivate some regions for a certain governing equations, like what FEMLAB does. Can someone with experience give me some hint on how to handle this issue? Your kind help will be appreciated. Steven |

hi, Steven, you can write a udf to define the diffusivity for each species. the diffusivity of hydrogen/oxygen is sevral orders bigger in gas channel than in membrane(electrolyte), so usually they won't penetrate the membrane through this method. I've seen another approach which employed a big source term to freeze the mole fraction to zero in the region where the species actually does not exist. but i never implenment that successufully. good luck.

Hi , I am used the Fluent for Modeling PEMFC but I found the difficulty ;if you can guide me for modeling correct the all phenomena founded in PEMFC.
ALSO CAN ANY ONE SEND ME THE LINK FOR THE FUEL CELL MODULE TUTORIALS. I AM IN GREAT NEED OF THESE TUTORIALS. THANK YOU |
