Exporting Meshes from ICEM to Fluent

Hi all,
I am trying to export a hexahedral mesh from ICEM to Fluent. It has seemed to work well until I have done grid check in Fluent. A warning message popped up saying that non positive volumes exist. Has anybody got any idea why this is so? Or, what should be the procedure for exporting from ICEM to Fluent? The negative volumes are so small (~E-10) which makes me think that it has something to do with setting a tolerance in ICEM before exporting to Fluent. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Zi |

What is the quality of the mesh in ICEM Hex? Is it -ve? I dont see any problem while converting mesh from ICEM to Fluent. Check ur mesh in ICEM. It is of bad quality.

Yes - you should always at least check the angles and determinants of the mesh before you write to Fluent. You can also run the Edit Mesh > Check Mesh default set before writing to Fluent.

Yes, I think you are right. I went back to ICEM to check the quality and apparently it is awful! Also, I can see from ICEM that there are negative volumes which means that it is solely a mesh quality problem. Thanks so much for the replies.
