hello, anyone is simulating (or has been simulated) flow past a cylinder? my averaged Cd(Re=1000~10000) is around 1.5 then much larger than that in experiment. by the way, my material is water, turbulent model LES, 35000 strctured grid in 20*40 mm computational domain.
any suggestion is appreciated in advance! |

In the Reynolds number quoted, the flow is turbulent with significant spanwise flow structures. You should use 3-D model.

well, you have a low Reynolds number so unsteady vortex shedding is expected. so you have to enable usteady solver and to have a fine mesh. using dynamic mesh adaptation will be useful. but i dont think that using 3d model will be a good idea, especially if you dont want to simulate the instability in the flow.

i agree with u,MOHAMMED. BUT, these is a problem, how to use dynamic mesh adaptaton? i'v ever done vortex induce vibration(VIV)and once used dynamic mesh, and i don't think they are the same.
THANX VERY MUCH! |

That is nice. So be good and spread the word around, do not keep it for your selves. You can also use google to look for more sites with free tutorials
