Hi people, I was wondering about the best linux distribution to run fluent. What do you recomend? Suse, Mandriva, etc..?? We will run it in an AMD 64 bits platform, right now with single core but looking forward to update it for multiple CPUs. Any idea?
Thank you. |

I recently switched from XP to Suse 10.1 No problems so far with Fluent/Gambit on an AMD64 Opteron.

Thanks for the response RoM, Appart from that, what about the performance? Are real those 20% faster than a 32bits platform that I heard?
Thanks! |

I have tried SUSE 10.0 and 10.1 for x86 recently and depending on the bash version you will have problems with 10.1. It is easily fixed though as noted in the User Service Center.
With x86_64 it is another story... It took some tinkering to get it to work properly. |

Patch3 fixed the problem with my Suse 10.1 bash shell. I cannot comment on performance sinse i got a complete new system which i could only compare to my old P4 2.8GHz. It is faster but probalby not due to the 64bit. I just wanted the 64bit because i need more than 2GB memory which is the limit for WinXP.
