Default Modelling a fin as a wall or a face??

Hi i am doing a heat transfer simulation for fins in a rectangular enclosure with internal fins. Inside the enclosure there is a material and I want to study the melting of this material.

My simulation requires me to apply a heat flux from the base of the enclosure.

Initially i modelled the base wall as just an edge in gambit and set it as a wall. I inputed heat flux= 10750W/m2 and thickness=0.5mm.

After that I tried modelling the base wall as a solid face(thickness=5mm). I set the inner edge and outer edge as walls. The outer wall i set heat flux=10750W/m2 and thickness=0 while the inner wall i set it at coupled(because it interfaces with another liquid material inside the enclosure), heat flux=0 & thickness=0.

However, I am getting different results for both this models!!!! Any ideas how come?

Hey: I mean both of them can be correct. You mean when you add the thickness of wall get another results? I guess they must be two different results. As far as I know a fine is a surface. Thanks/Farod P.S.: I guess I didn't get exactly what are you asking about. Please let me know more.

Hi Farod thanks for your reply.

Basically i modelled the fin just as an edge and selects its boundary type as wall(conductive and thickness=0.5mm) But since the wall is only an edge, i am not able to see the temperature countours

Then i modelled the fin as a face(made out of 4 edges) and selected all four edges as walls. And i choose the continium as solid(aluminium)

However i am getting 2 different results...

Any ideas why?? Thanks in advance
