Hello,
"Realizable" actually implies that the model satisfies specific constraints on the reynold's stresses that make the model more consistent with the physics of turbulent flows and hence more accurate than the standard k-eps model. Regards A A S |

Practically though, the real difference is that Realizable is better with separating flows (Standard k-e is notoriously for overpredicting the size of separation bubbles) and generally doesn't overpredict the production of turbulent viscosity as badly. It's about 15% more computationally expensive though.

don't you mean UNDERpredicting the size (and onset) of separation! Where do you get the 15% more computationally expensive figure from? Regards, Bak_Flow |
