Hi
I want to define free surface level(water surface position) . How can I do this?My Model is 3D open channel. I've used VOF method. Any help and recommendation? Many Thanks |

Go to surface>iso surface then choose surface of constant as phases>volume fraction and set vof value as 0.5 then press create

Dear Kbaker
Thanks for your reply. I mean how can I define free surface level on a specific surface? I want to define free surface on the side walls of my channel.my is case 3d modeling of supercritical flow in channel bends.the side walls of my case are curves . Best Regards Reyhaneh |

I am not understood your request completely however i will suggest you for using open channel flow boundary if you have a channel flow then you need just to enter the free surface level value hope it works with you. What you mean with curves at walls ? did you mean with it curved interfaces?

Dear Kbaker
Thanks for not giving up.sorry for not well requested question. I mean what should I do if I want to define and see the free surface JUST on a SPECIFIC SURFACE such as on one of the side walls of channel? If Use ISO Surface it'll give me free surface with defined vof in the whole domain including interior. But I don't want it. Thank you both for your time and opinion. Reyhaneh |

I think you can try to draw an iso-surface with vof=0.5 then go for display>contours select grid for contours and the coordinates should be chosen your wall coordinate that you want to draw the surface along it then select surface as the iso-surface you create in the first (i.e. with vof=0.5) then click display and see if it will succeeded with you.

Dear Kbaker
Many thanks for your reply. what do you mean by wall coordinate? the only available options for Grid are:z-coordinate,y-coordiante,x-coordinate. Best Regards |

You need to create an iso-surface with vof=0.5 as i told you in my previous posts then go to contours and select the grid as x or y or z reference to your wall you need select the coordinate that parallel to your wall and click views.
