Yes. Its happened. Job interview. Is there anyone out there with YEARS of working in the CFD world that can hazard some guesses as to what some good technical CFD questions I could be asked in an interview (Don't forget the answers as well!!)

Thanks

Hussain

what sort of job is it though and with what type of company? The questions will depend on both of the answers of those, i.e. a developer for a code will be asked a totally different set of questions from a CFD engineer for a large OEM (for example)

Don't expect to be asked too many technical questions. In my experience these questions only take a small part of an interview if any at all. Most of my interviews were more like a chat and the usual bullshit interview questions.

Its for a fluid mechanics company. they specialise in CFD and wind tunnel testing so they'll either integrate the two to get data on airflow past buildings, stadiums, cars etc.

Thank guys

So they are consultants I guess....I suppose they are likely to ask you about your experience of course, as it is a engineering role as opposed to a development role they are probably more interested in knowing if you can get them good solutions quickly and not knowing the default coefficients of the K-E model off by heart.

They will be interested in your thoughts on meshing best practice, the compomise of accuracy over speed and so on. Remember that industrial CFD is fairly far removed from academic, the later you have 6 months to get a result on a small part using complicated models and high accuracy, industrial they want a fair result in good time with consistant accuracy and predictive results.
