compute the reattachment point

Hi!
Any idea, how to compute the reattachment point of the axial flow around a cylinder?? When I take the vel. at the wall, it is (of course) everywere zero. So, should I take a parallel line on a certain distance above the surface of the cylinder and read the axial vel. on that line?? If it is zero, the reattachment point is reached! How has this distance to be, to give reasonable results?? It sould be higher than the viscous sublayer, dosn't it? Any Idea?? Ralf |

Use the shear stress on the wall to determine separation and reattachment. Since the flow typically approaches the separation/reattachment point in both directions along the surface the shear stress should be zero at such a point.
