Guys i need a code which uses discrete vortex method(DVM) to calculate lift, drag etc.
Also can u guys tell me how to incorporate thickness effects into DVM?.. as DVM has panels along camberline so thickness has nothing to do with it.. PLZ!!.. urgent.. |

There are some open/free softwares out there. Check these two:
http://www.3dpanelmethod.com/home.html http://www.pdas.com/contents15.html (look for Panair - A502) These codes go under the general umbrella of panel methods, which use doublets/vortex-rings for the lift and sources for the thickness. Refer to Katz-Plotkin:Low Speed Aerodynamics for more details. Never used both of them, however Panair is quite advanced and might not be the first choice if you are looking for something simple. Actually, if you are looking for something more didactic, i can suggest: http://www.dept.aoe.vt.edu/~devenpor/aoe5104/ but it seems that when the course is not active also the material is not available (like now). |
