Hello,

I have been doing some CFD literature review lately. There are several papers that have "scalar mixing" in the title.

example: http://www.tsfp-conference.org/proce...9/vol_1-49.pdf

First, what is scalar mixing?

Second, why is it relevant or useful to study scalar mixing in CFD? What can it tell us about the nature of a flow that the velocity/pressure field cannot?

Thank you

Mixing in passive tracers is relevant in some areas where you want that a species is mixed in the fluid.
You could find useful this book https://www.amazon.it/Kinematics-Mix.../dp/0521363357

Thanks for your reply. I wonder if you have any other suggested reading material? I am having a difficult time accessing the book you mentioned.

You can find a lot of papers in the main journal of fluid mechanics. I suggest to see the literature in the references here http://www.annualreviews.org/doi/10.....050802.122015
