Hi All,
This question is not specific to any CFD tool and I would like everyone to share thier experiences on fans & Pump simulation. Basically, I wanted to find the the fan/pump performance using CFD. I'm using MRF method to simulate the fan blade / pump impeller rotation. Below are the Boundary conditions that are specified 1. Inlet/Suction - Mass flow rate / Total pressure 2. Outlet/Discharge - 0 Pa Static Pressure 3. Rotating Blades / Impellers - Angular velocity at selected point in performance curve 4. Rotating Domain - Angular velocity at selected point in performance curve 5. Shroud / Casing - No Slip Condition When the simulation is run for all the selected points on performance curve. It is observed that when the fan/pump is operated at off design points the results are deviating more than 30% and its not acceptable. So, it becomes very difficult to judge the performance of the rotating machineries with MRF method in CFD. It would be really helpful, if you could share me your experience in simulating fan/pump and share your views in addressing this kind of problems. Regards, Vignesh |
