Hello,
I used OpenFOAM for two years and I just changed my employer recently. I participated OpenFOAM courses at ESI and I prefer to use it. But here colleagues use almost only Star-CCM+, maybe because here is automotive company. So, I am learning Starccm+ for two weeks. But it looks like that the starccm has often problem due to license and once it happened something weird that I surely saved the setup and in several hours I could find that it was not saved and the old false setup was still there. When I open a huge mesh data, it takes too long time to save, even I changed some boundary conditions. And I personally think the trees(?) on left side are too unnecessarily complicated, so it makes the setup more unclearly. Still I cannot understand but why a lot of companies use commercial programs even there is strong open source solver like OpenFOAM. Maybe because of geometry clean up? But here uses also ANSA for that. |

Your post shows that you are just new to starccm and you are little bit confused about workflow. Edited to add: Do help him Compressible nozzle flow - no problem for fluent but impossible with openFOAM? |
