Hi,
Has anybody modeled granular flows? Any information on that is welcome. Thanks in advance |

You might want to check papers by Savage, Ahmadi, Jackson and Jinkens. You would get more refernces from there on. Good luck.

Depends how you want to model them really, savage and people like that tend to use discrete particle simulations which are v computer intensive and pretty useless for practical situations. I on the other hand am developing a totally new method for my PhD (sorry blowing my own trumpet) if you are interested drop me an e-mail.

it is practically totaly new, numerical simulation is the same as any other bit of CFD the modelling of the granular media its physical properties and its behaviour under shear is the new bit.

Hi
I am interested in the work pertaining to flow in rotary kilns.I have gone through the work by Boateng and Barr in this field and their flow model is based on work by Lun,Jackson etc. But they do not go into the reaction terms and such detials. What my query is that by using commerical software like FLUENT or by developing own codes, is it possible to model that kind of flow specially with the complicated transport equations involved in it. |
