Adaptive refinement for arbitrary cells

Hi,
I would like to try to do adaptive mesh refinement for cell with an arbitrary number of faces on a finite-volume cfd code using a face based addressing. Is there any recommended way to refine such cells? I was initialy thinking of decomposing the cell using face vertex, face middel and cell center. Each cell would be divided by 2*number of faces. This would induce high variation of cell volume between refined and un-refined cell. Would this be problematic for the solver (implicit with GMRES)? Any idea/reference on the subject would be greatly appreciated. Julien |
