I have tried doing this on FLUENT and i am getting a decent result.
But can please anyone suggest me the best solver to be used in such a case.

AND after i have generated the frames how can i convert them into a video format...The MPEG option in the playback window plays it very fast and there is no option to modify the frame rate...so please help with this if anyone can

For generating a video, have you tried Windows movie maker? I had a similar problem (though I was not using Fluent for that simulation). I exported the images after every iteration and then compiled the animation in Windows movie maker. You can adjust the time per image and time between images. This can slow down your animation as you need.

Well I have not worked with the vortex shedding behind a cylinder for a long time now. The simulations for which I use Microsoft Movie Maker were usually internal flows with Re < 20,000 (VOF related problems, particle depositions, internal flows in ribbed passages etc).
