Hi
I was wondering about the physical mechanisms for generating vorticity and also their mathematical formulations. I know about viscous diffusion of vorticity and vortex stretching -but there are mainly mechanisms for how vorticity changes right? not its production..any comments would be appreciated Nick |

Hi Nik,
I assume that mean shear (at a solid boundary, or at a fluid of different properties) would contribute to generating vortices and such vorticity. I believe that the main mechanism that produces vorticity is the existence of velocity gradients.... maybe this helps! merrry christmas! |
