I find that it is an extreme challenge to take a complete CAD assembly of a vehicle, for an engine compartment analysis, and come up with a close connected triangulated surface of what the air touches. I have tried adapco's ProSurf to Surface Wrapping procedure as well as ICEM CFD's tet mesher. Although you can be successful with both techniques, I find both lacking.
Our rapid prototyping person told me about Materialise's Magics: http://www.materialise.com/HOME/home_ENG.html I'm wondering if anyone has experience using Magics for triangle cleanup for CFD applications. More generally, what techniques have the group found that separates the wetted CAD surfaces from the internal ones? |
