Which time discretization scheme is better.. second order RK low disspiation low dispersion scheme or third order RK TVD scheme.. (in terms of convergence rate and effectiveness)
Secondly by doing WENO implementation in the characteristic field , does it gives any advantage over the scheme where WENo is not solved in chractersitic field?? |

Hei,
The accuracy of the third order Runge- Kutta scheme is obviously higher than that of the second-order Runge-Kutta scheme. Concerning effectivness: keep in mind that for each Euler step of the Runge-Kutta scheme, the poisson equation needs to be solved. So here the second order Runge-Kutta scheme will take less time to compute. Cheers Hans |
