Is there a tool or a piece of code to convert set of vtk files into tecplot readable format ? I was using paraview but now I am required to use tecplot. Tecplot doesn't seem to import from that format unless I missed it.

to my knowledge, no. we use different routines to generate vtk and tecplot, but we dont have a converter....
