Hi everyone,

In the attached case a fixed rotation boundary is added on the patch at the left end in the figure. All other patches are set to zeroGradient. As shown in the picture below, only a small part of the mesh is actually moving. However, I would rather expect that the whole pipe is uniformly rotating. A uniform could be only achieved if the mantle areas of the pipe are defined with fixed Rotation. However, this would be possible in the final model.

I attached the underlying case to this issue.

I am grateful for any suggestions.

Hi Patrick,

I suggest changing the following:
  • Change the inner-wall and outer-wall boundary conditions from zeroGradient to solidTraction with zero traction
  • Change the inlet boundary condition from zeroGradient to fixedDisplacement
  • Change the zeroGradient boundary conditions to solidTraction with zero traction
  • Increase the number of outer correctors in constant//solidProperties
  • [Optional] Loosen the solution tolerances in constant/solidProperties

I tried this and the results seem reasonable.

Hey! Could you share your case file now, if it's working? I've been trying to simulate a rotating pipe with vibrations but I'm not having too much luck.
