Hi Niels:

It seems that in waves2foam the solver porousWaveFoam is not maintained anymore? We need to couple the porous media model with waveFoam manually or you have some other plan?

Best regards
Hao

Hallo Hao,

I simply have not had the time to make solvers for v 2.3, 3.0 and 3.1. Furtheremore, I have several tutorials in my inbox for porousWaveFoam from Bjarne Jensen (the main contributor of the porous library), which needs to be adjusted to cross-version compatibility. I must admit that they have been lying there for many months now.

I hope that this answers your question.

Kind regards,

Niels

Hi Niels:

Thanks for your quick explanation.

I coupled porous media library with wavefoam and dynamic mesh in 3.1 and there is a strange error in the end of the simulation saying something like double delete a pointer...But it seems that it does not affect the result...Also some error in parallel mode...

So I am looking forward to your 'official' updates on this solver! Also I am wondering why you would not like to release an official waveDyMFoam but let people do it by themselves? So people can understand the code better?

Best regards
Hao

Hallo Hao,

I believe that I have been given the explanation a multiple of times, but I will repeat it.

I have never done anything with a (pure) waveDyMFoam, so developing and testing it for floating structures would be a very huge task for me. I have previously asked people to contribute, but the community feel around waves2Foam is apparently still somewhat weak.

Therefore, for me to do this outside of my daytime job would require substantially more than the kind words of the users. This could for instance be cloud funding, but I do not know, whether it would be successful.

Kind regards,

Niels
