I am new to OpenFOAM and Linux and could use some assistance. I am running Ubuntu 14.04 and installed OpenFOAM-2.3.0 succesfully (atleast I thought).
after installing I ran the tests and everything worked fine. I then took a break and logged off Linux. When I returned to learning OpenFOAM. I noticed that I could not run any tutorials. When I run 'of230' which i assume you use to start openfoam I am not able to use the tutorials. When Typing -icoFoam -help i get the following message Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dl-version.c: 224: _dl_check_map_versions: Assertion `needed != ((void *)0)' failed! When I run the foamInstallationTest it seems ok. I get the following. Am I doing something wrong or missing something fundamental to Linux? Checking main OpenFOAM env variables... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Environment_variable Set_to_file_or_directory Valid Crit ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- $WM_PROJECT_INST_DIR /home/lloyd/OpenFOAM yes yes $WM_PROJECT_USER_DIR /home/lloyd/OpenFOAM/lloyd-2.3.0 yes no $WM_THIRD_PARTY_DIR /home/lloyd/OpenFOAM/ThirdParty-2.3.0 yes yes ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Checking the OpenFOAM env variables set on the PATH... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Environment_variable Set_to_file_or_directory Valid Path Crit ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- $WM_PROJECT_DIR /home/lloyd/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-2.3.0 yes yes yes $FOAM_APPBIN ...-2.3.0/platforms/linux64GccDPOpt/bin yes yes yes $FOAM_SITE_APPBIN .../2.3.0/platforms/linux64GccDPOpt/bin no no $FOAM_USER_APPBIN ...-2.3.0/platforms/linux64GccDPOpt/bin no no $WM_DIR .../lloyd/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-2.3.0/wmake yes yes yes ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Checking the OpenFOAM env variables set on the LD_LIBRARY_PATH... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Environment_variable Set_to_file_or_directory Valid Path Crit ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- $FOAM_LIBBIN ...-2.3.0/platforms/linux64GccDPOpt/lib yes yes yes $FOAM_SITE_LIBBIN .../2.3.0/platforms/linux64GccDPOpt/lib no no $FOAM_USER_LIBBIN ...-2.3.0/platforms/linux64GccDPOpt/lib no no $MPI_ARCH_PATH ...0/platforms/linux64Gcc/openmpi-1.6.5 no yes ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Third party software ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Software Version Location ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- flex 2.5.35 /usr/bin/flex gcc 4.8.2 /usr/bin/gcc gzip 1.6 /bin/gzip tar 1.27.1 /bin/tar icoFoam ...M/OpenFOAM-2.3.0/platforms/linux64GccDPOpt/bin/icoFoam ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Summary ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Base configuration ok.
