Creul91 is on a distinguished road
Hi,

I am new to this Linux world but I have to use ubuntu 14.04 and OpenFOAM 2.3.0 for uni. I have tried looking through the forums and trying multiple things that have been suggested but so far no luck.

So what happened,

I installed OpenFoam with no issues but when I attempted to install ParaView I get this error
Code:
[ 11%] Built target vtkFiltersModeling
[ 11%] Built target vtkfreetype
make[2]: *** No rule to make target `/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so', needed by `lib/libvtkftgl-pv4.1.so.1'. Stop.
make[1]: *** [VTK/ThirdParty/ftgl/CMakeFiles/vtkftgl.dir/all] Error 2
make: *** [all] Error 2
    ---
    Installation complete for paraview-4.1.0
    Set environment variables:

        export ParaView_DIR=/home/parallels/OpenFOAM/ThirdParty-2.3.0/platforms/linux64Gcc/ParaView-4.1.0
        export PATH=$ParaView_DIR/bin:$PATH
        export PV_PLUGIN_PATH=$FOAM_LIBBIN/paraview-4.1
I have asked my university for help but they don't seem to understand what is causing this issue, so I'm hoping that you wonderful people can help me out.

If you require any further information you may have to tell me where to locate it.

Greetings Ben and welcome to the forum!

That error message is usually due to the drivers for the graphics card/chip not being installed. Or because the "mesa-dev" package is not installed, in case there is no graphics drivers available.

In addition, detailed installation instructions for OpenFOAM 2.3.0 on Ubuntu 14.04 are provided here: http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/In...u#Ubuntu_14.04

Best regards,
Bruno
