Cannot compile files belonging to root

Hello,
I want to install a module that works with an older OpenFOAM version (specifically version 6) and am trying to compile the module that I downloaded directly from GitHub. However, whenever I try to compile it I have an error saying I cannot create a file required for the compilation. Looking into it, I found that the owner of that path is "root" even though it is in my home directory. I am using a Windows 11 computer, with WSL2 and Ubuntu on Windows to have access to a Linux environment. I found this thread : From where do I get wmake? which depicts a somewhat similar issue, but in his case it is because he did not setup his environment correctly (I did change the bashrc files in my case). I also logged in as root to try and compile it but root does not know the wmake command, and I am a bit afraid to risk making mistakes while being the root user (I tried to add the path to the bashrc for the root user without much success). I copied the module file directly from my windows download file, is it why? Any help would be appreciated. |
