(from joern beilke)
Now I tried to run the first tutorial but always get an error message when opening a case within "runFoamX". It opens an error message with "class.org.omg.CORBA.UNK..." and nothing more written in this window and the following output from the console: Exec : FoamXCaseServer /home/beilke/OpenFOAM/beilke-1.0/run/tutorials/icoFoam cavity -open Date : Dec 14 2004 Time : 00:18:00 Host : dell1 PID : 22754 Root : /home/beilke/OpenFOAM/beilke-1.0/run/tutorials/icoFoam Case : cavity Nprocs : 1 Caught FoamXIOError exception in FoamXCaseServer::main(int argc, char **argv) : FoamXIOError "Non-optional dictionary entry 'timeScheme' not found in dictionary\ /home/beilke/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-1.0/applications/utilities/preProcessing/FoamX/config/applications/incompressible/icoFoam/defaults/fvSchemes.def::default" File "/home/beilke/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-1.0/applications/utilities/preProcessing/FoamX/config/applications/incompressible/icoFoam/defaults/fvSchemes.def::default" starting at line 6 ending at line -1 In function "FoamX::IDictionaryEntryImpl::load(const Foam::dictionary&, bool allowNonOptional)" in file "IDictionaryEntryImpl.C" at line 986 Finishing FoamXCaseServer::main(int argc, char **argv) org.omg.CORBA.UNKNOWN: vmcid: OMG minor code: 1 completed: Maybe at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInsta nce0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInsta nce(NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.java:39) at sun.reflect.DelegatingConstructorAccessorImpl.newI nstance(DelegatingConstructorAccessorImpl.java:27) at java.lang.reflect.Constructor.newInstance(Construc tor.java:274) at java.lang.Class.newInstance0(Class.java:308) at java.lang.Class.newInstance(Class.java:261) at com.sun.corba.se.internal.iiop.messages.ReplyMessa ge_1_0.getSystemException(ReplyMessage_1_0.java:87 ) at com.sun.corba.se.internal.iiop.ClientResponseImpl. getSystemException(ClientResponseImpl.java:105) at com.sun.corba.se.internal.corba.ClientDelegate.inv oke(ClientDelegate.java:314) at org.omg.CORBA.portable.ObjectImpl._invoke(ObjectIm pl.java:457) at FoamXServer.CaseBrowser._ICaseBrowserStub.getCaseS erverReference(_ICaseBrowserStub.java:467) at FoamX.CaseManagement.CaseBrowserPanel.getCaseServe rReference(CaseBrowserPanel.java:1799) at FoamX.CaseManagement.CaseBrowserPanel.access$700(C aseBrowserPanel.java:69) at FoamX.CaseManagement.CaseBrowserPanel$OpenCaseActi on.actionPerformed(CaseBrowserPanel.java:2135) at FoamX.CaseManagement.CaseBrowserPanel.handleMouseO pen(CaseBrowserPanel.java:1386) at FoamX.CaseManagement.CaseBrowserPanel.OnMouseClick ed(CaseBrowserPanel.java:1247) at FoamX.CaseManagement.CaseBrowserPanel.access$200(C aseBrowserPanel.java:69) at FoamX.CaseManagement.CaseBrowserPanel$2.mouseClick ed(CaseBrowserPanel.java:1150) at java.awt.AWTEventMulticaster.mouseClicked(AWTEvent Multicaster.java:211) at java.awt.AWTEventMulticaster.mouseClicked(AWTEvent Multicaster.java:211) at java.awt.Component.processMouseEvent(Component.jav a:5103) at java.awt.Component.processEvent(Component.java:489 7) at java.awt.Container.processEvent(Container.java:156 9) at java.awt.Component.dispatchEventImpl(Component.jav a:3615) at java.awt.Container.dispatchEventImpl(Container.jav a:1627) at java.awt.Component.dispatchEvent(Component.java:34 77) at java.awt.LightweightDispatcher.retargetMouseEvent( Container.java:3483) at java.awt.LightweightDispatcher.processMouseEvent(C ontainer.java:3207) at java.awt.LightweightDispatcher.dispatchEvent(Conta iner.java:3128) at java.awt.Container.dispatchEventImpl(Container.jav a:1613) at java.awt.Window.dispatchEventImpl(Window.java:1606 ) at java.awt.Component.dispatchEvent(Component.java:34 77) at java.awt.EventQueue.dispatchEvent(EventQueue.java: 456) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpOneEventForHierar chy(EventDispatchThread.java:201) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEventsForHierarch y(EventDispatchThread.java:151) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEvents(EventDispa tchThread.java:145) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEvents(EventDispa tchThread.java:137) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.run(EventDispatchThre ad.java:100) I have Suse 8.2 running on the machine. Can you please tell me whats wrong with my installation. It would be also nice if you look at the registration error for the forum. With best Regards, Jörn Beilke |

Hello Jörn,
The only difference with me installation is that I am running a (t)csh so source ~/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-1.0/.OpenFOAM-1.0/cshrc instead of the bashrc. When my FoamXCaseServer starts up it prints FoamXCaseServer /home/pinky2/mattijs/OpenFOAM/mattijs-1.0/run/icoFoam cavity -open and I only get some messages about root directories (which I entered in the ~/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-1.0/.OpenFOAM-1.0/controlDict directory) not existing and being skipped. I do not get your message and when I check the file that gives you your problems the timeScheme is there. Anybody experiencing similar problems? We are running Suse9.0-9.2 across the company though and don't know if Suse8.2 will still work. Mattijs |

Something has got messed up in the FoamX configuration files (see $FOAMX_SYSTEM_CONFIG directory).
A fix is being put in - a new OpenFOAM-1.0.General.tgz will be built and put on the download site around lunchtime today. |
