I am trying out OpenFoam and here is a newbie questions about merging patch.

I am using hotRoom example (in buoyantSimpleFoam) and what I did was just creating a second block (exactly the same size and same gridding) and put it on top of the first one (in y-direction).

I also moved the "ceiling" wall to the top of the second block. I want to merge the patch between these blocks.

The manual says that if the grid on the two patches are exactly the same than the patch will be deleted. But apparently a default patch was created on the boundary of the two patches.

And when I run buoyantSimpleFoam, there is an error saying:
"This mesh contains patche op type empty but is not 1D or 2D by virtue of the fact that the number of faces of this empty patch is not divisible by the number of cells."

Can anybody tell me how to solve this?

I also tried a different gridding on the patches and use mergePatchPairs in the blockMeshDict. But when I run blockMesh, it says:
mergePatchPairs not currently supported.

From function blockMesh
in file genBlockMesh.C at line 198.

FOAM exiting

Any idea what is wrong?
