Hi all!

I am trying to perform a MRF simulation of a hyperboloid impeller rotating at 26 rpm in a closed compartment . However, I am facing problems with meshing the corners of the blades of the hyperboloid impeller (see attached figure).

The geometry of the impeller is created in Siemens NX, and exported as a .stl file. SnappyHexMesh was used to build the mesh. I uploaded the blockmesh and snappyHexMesh file here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ro2u2rh0c...iVAbXskea?dl=0

Any idea what to change in the settings of the snappyHexMesh file?

Best Regards,
Sophie

Dear all,

I am still have problems with meshing the impeller. I tried to change different settings in the surfaceFeatureExtract and snappyHexMesh files without any success.

Does anyone know how I solve this problem?

Thanks,
Sophie

An easy way to improve this, is to
  1. reduce your base mesh spacing i.e. make you base mesh finer
  2. increase the min and max level on the surface of the impeller

Most issues with snappyHexMesh are solved by increasing the resolution.

Increase the min max level of surface refinement on them surfaces. What are your current settings?
