Hello Foamers,
I have a domain of (28*2*2.57) (m*m*m) and my very small working component in the domain. The problem is when am trying to discretise the domain (200 2800 257) , it is giving me an error of running out of memory. When i reduce the discretisation (100 280 128) , it is killing the process after sometime.
I couldn't figure out what's the problem. I need blockMesh for snappyHexMesh.
Attached is my blockMesh file.

Thanks & Regards in advance.

quoting this post: Memory requirements of OF tools

You have two blocks so you'll need 7 GB of memory to run your smaller case and 288 GB to run the bigger one. blockMesh most probably needs even more than this to construct mesh.

IMO you're running out of memory. You can check that live in task manager/system monitor and if blockMesh doesn't find out you have no memory left your system will do that for you and terminate blockMesh.

Well, you could instead try to go with a coarser blockMesh and increase refinement only in the regions of interest using snappyHexMesh. Would greatly save you mesh count

Otherwise, as has been pointed out, you would need at least 7GB & 288GB for the "coarser" and "finer" cases.

Cheers,
Antimony

Thanks for the reply.
But the coarser mesh would be having a cell of length 10cm (a discretisation of 280 in length wise direction) whereas my refined region might have less than 1 cm cell length , which would give me errors.
