Dear OpenFoam users,

i'm currently setting up a file with an airfoil in 2D. I'm quite new to OpenFoam and i've been looking for a solution for over a week. I have Problems to get the right Geometry at the tip of the airfoil. I attached the tip of the the stl-file and the tip after the snappyHexMesh run. I already tried to refine the stl-file and changed a lot parameters in sHM, but no success. Another Problem i'm facing is that i need a y+-value below 5. I'm currently between 2-7 with 3 layers. When i want to lower the value of the layers sHM doesn't give me any layers at all and i have no clue why. Thanks for any help.

Best wishes,

Ouschen

Hi!

Try to increase the refinement level at the tip. Your mesh is too coarse there.
If you increase the refinement level with one, your y+ will be the half of the current value.
But you will need more refinement at the tip. You can't follow these small features with big elements.

Layer addition with snappy is not easy. Especially with a curved surface and many layers, there are many suggestions about it in the forum.
