Hello everyone,I'm trying to export stl files from 3d modeling sofwares.
I've found that when CAD and solidworks export stl files,they'll turn all the coordinates into a positive value,which makes my blockmesh cannot intersect with my trisurface mesh.
So I turn to use ug and blender,but then I found another problem.the exported stl files is ok,and the surfaceFeatures option was done successful,but when I do the snappyHexMesh,there comes a fatal error with the emsh file,which CAD and solidworks didn't give.
Sorry I cannot upload pictures,but here's the error output:
--> FOAM FATAL IO ERROR:
"ill defined primitiveEntry starting at keyword 'object' on line 14 and ending at line 14"

file: /home/dyfluid/OpenFOAM/dyfluid-8/run/fpso/constant/triSurface/1.eMesh at line 14.

From function void Foam:rimitiveEntry::readEntry(const Foam::dictionary&, Foam::Istream&)
in file db/dictionary/primitiveEntry/primitiveEntryIO.C at line 168.

FOAM exiting

So does anyone know where the problem is?Is it from the emesh file?Or the stl file?Or from modeling procedure?
Thanks all!

I don't know what you intend to do with emesh but you can extract the emesh from STL files with an OpenFOAM command ( surfaceFeatureExtract ).

You can find more info on this utility in the tutorial of snappyHexMesh here:
