Overset mesh - moving meshes entirely within background mesh?

I have a set of geometry I am thinking about tackling but want to attempt to use an overset mesh case to do it. Is there any rules or limitations that require the overset mesh to exist entirely within the background mesh or can it "leak" over outside the background mesh without causing computational or accuracy issues?
