Default Weird behaviour of spline-edge

Hallo all,

I am trying to create a cylindrical, twisted block mesh.
The cylindrical part is no issue, the "arc" edge definition works like a charm.

(Yes, it is intentional that the mesh - at the moment - looks like that)

If I add a twist to the last mesh section of pi/2 (think: align mesh cells with the wake of a propeller blade) the result looks like this:

Again, this looks as expected, the "weird curved shape" (is there an "official" term?) results from the start and end plane being connected by a line through two points, there is no way it can know how to twist.

Edit: While this post was in moderation I solved the spline issue (something to do with something 60 cm in front of the monitor).
Nevertheless:

I add splines following a helix around the cylinder, and the points indeed lie on the cylinder surface. The resulting blockMesh on the other hand has a weird wobble overlaid on the surface (if you look a a projected view). Regardless of the number of spline support points and number of block divisions, there still seems to be a more or less periodic diameter change going on.
Have any of you encountered the same behaviour?

I was able to resolve my problem by projecting edges and faces to a geometry (a cylinder for example) inside of blockMesh.
