Hi everyone,

I'm working on simulation of supersonic nozzle by sonicFoam. I have no idea on how to calculate mass flow(or phi) and average pressure at the nozzle throat?

Could anyone give me some advice?

Thanks,
chencw

Hi there,

Generally these sort of things are done with the help of function objects. You may find a great and detailed help in openfoam wiki or foam user manual itself regarding how to set them up and use them. Also there are tutorials already done in foam with the same things that you want to have. Search for "cuttingPlane" and you will find those examples.

Hope this helps...

Hi,

Thanks your help.

Actually, I did some research on function objects but I found that function objects could only working on faceZones and patch when calculating mass flow. It's obvious that I can't set the throat of nozzle as patch.

Thanks,
chencw

I think you need to spend more time... anyways, you might find what you want here "https://cfd.direct/openfoam/user-guide/v3-function-objects/".
