Hello,
I am performing steady-state passenger cabin simulation using OpenFOAM 6 including radiation load using view factor model.

I want to calculate Mean Radiant temperature for the mannequin after running the simulation.

M R T = T _ { 1 } F _ { p - 1 } + T _ { 2 } F _ { p - 2 } + \ldots + T _ { n } F _ { p - n }

where:

M R T is Mean Radiant Temperature
T _ { n } is the temperature of surface "n", in Kelvin
F _ { p - n } is the angle factor between a person and surface "n".

My questions are
  1. How can i access view factors of a patch to create custom function objects?
  2. Is there any other approach I can try to calculate the mean radiant temperature directly?
Thank you
Sudarshan

Hi, could you finally solve that problem? I was reading a PhD thesis and they did it externally through the analytical procedure. Were you able of doing it directly in OpenFOAM?

Hey,
I couldn't do it directly in the OpenFOAM. It would be great if you post me a link of the paper for my future reference.

Thanks

Sure, it's
Indoor Thermal Comfort Modeling and Simulation Using Computational Fluid Dynamics. Authors: Krzysztof Arendt & Marek Krzaczek

I am going to use the correlations given by "Angle Factor Calculation for the Thermal Radiation Environment of the Human Body". How did you resolve the problem?

Since I had limited time to finish my master thesis, I gave up on calculating MRT.

You can access to the viewfactor by means of the the dictionary viewFactorsDict.

You must write : debug 1; inside the dictionary to show the view factors when viewFactorsGen is executed.
