Hi Foamers:
I need to extract the free surface elevation curve along the ship length in OpenFOAM. I know how to extract the free surface elevation time series at the specified location. Do I need to arrange dozens of wave probes along the ship? It sounds a little troublesome. The expected effect is shown in the figure below. Looking forward to your reply. Dear Richal,
Have you finally solved the issue? Because I'm in the same situation. Best |

Hi mCiFlDk,
Are you doing ship resistance simulation? As far as I understand, when the calculation is stable, surface elevation along the ship length won't change a lot. Thus set more wave probes along the ship length and read the results at last instant will be okay. For the setting of wave probes, you may refer to this link. It can extract the variation of wave surface height with time at each probe location. Then you can read the surface elevation of each probe manually or by program.Draw a set of XZ data into a curve is the distribution of the surface elevation along the ship.Or if you have a better way to deal with it, please let me know.
