Hi everyone,

I want to impose to my flow a pressure difference of, letīs say, 10 Pa between inlet and outlet.

Anybody knows how I should proceed? I have read something about totalPressure BCs, but I am not pretty sure about how to use it in order to establish the pressure difference I want (in p file, if I set in---totalPressure value 101325 out---fixedValue 101315 means pressure_drop=10 Pa ????)

I have used both simpleFoam and rhoSimpleFoam.

Thanks in advance!!!If anybody could give me any hint it would be great!

Try googling before initializing a thread. "Sometimes your query gets solved"

I think you are looking for the link:

You can use "fixedMeanValue" patch for your case.

Hi Tushar,

AFAIK this post you attach (I have read it before) talks about implementation of a new kind of BC that behaves very similar to fixedValue (and it looks a very old thread, I guess OF has improved in this sense so itś not needed to implement this BC...)

I cannot find where it's explained how to specify the pressure drop I am talking about. Which settings will you use for specifying pressure drop of 100 Pa between inlet and outlet in the p file?

Cheers,
CRI

Hello CRI,

Thanks for correcting! I miss-understood previous thread. Apologies..

May be, I will write the patches as:

In--
p --> TotalPressure
U --> pressureInletVelocity

Out--
p --> fixedValue
U --> pressureInletOutletVelocity

Tushar,

Thanks for the quick replies.

I know the use of this BCs. The only doubt is about magnitude, because I am not sure if I set:

in totalPressure 1000
out fixedValue 500

this means that pressure drop between inlet and outlet is 500 Pa? Anybody have the certainty that this is true?
