Hello everyone,
hope you all had a nice Christmas. I'm having some (probably really simple) problems in determining the correct boundary conditions for my case. I'm doing 3D-Simulations of a cylinder in a couette flow: I want to use the swak4foam Tools later to reduce the procedural load, but right now I first want to get it to run the ordinary way. As mentioned, I'm not sure about the Boundary-Conditions I have to set. My Nomenclature for the boundarys is as to be seen in the picture above. Further the "front" and "back" pane are set as symmetryPlanes. My main problem are the boundary-condtions for the inlet and outlet. Since I don't want an accelerated flow, I'm not sure what to chose. I tried patch for both "Inlet" and "Outlet", both with "zeroGradient". I modeled the "upper wall" and "lower wall" once as a wall and once as a patch, both times with a "fixedValue" for the velocity. Unfortunately in both cases my flow looked more like a Boundary-Layer and not like a Couette flow: I tried to change the BCs of the inlet and outlet to "calculated", but got errormessages (that I Unfortunately didn't save somewhere but could try to regain). I also thought about using cylcicAMI on both the inlet and outlet and tell them to be neighbour faces, but didn't know how to correctly instruct the system to do so. Can you give me any hint what I should do? Thank you very much! Ferdinand PS: my 0, constant and system folder of one of my tests can be found here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/lq3xhtl48...f1HtfPmZa?dl=0 The mesh was created with Pointwise |
