Hi All,
I am attempting to set up a 2-D case for a NACA 4318 airfoil using HELYX-OS and OpenFOAM in an attempt to simply match data from both accepted NACA data and other CFD software, namely GHOST and STAR-CCM+. I have managed to do this well using the Spallart-Allmaras model. My very basic setup (I have only been using OpenFOAM for just over a month) to begin with was a simple non-slip wall over the airfoil and slip walls at all other boundary conditions with uniform inlet velocity being approximately 23.45 m/s with a zero pressure gradient at the inlet and a zero gradient velocity and fixed value of 0 for pressure at the outlet. Using SA, these conditions worked relatively well for matching Cl and Cp (drag was still a bit off). I have tried similar boundary conditions for the K-Omega SST model, and yield absurdly large values for both Cl and Cd so I'm fairly certain I'm mixed up on how to set up my boundary conditions for K-Omega SST with respect to OpenFOAM. Could anyone help guide me along for a proper set up for the K-Omega SST model BC's? And help at all would be much appreciated! I'm currently paging through a few tutorials given by OpenFOAM to diagnose the issue, but again I am relatively new to this software and CFD as a whole so I'm not quite sure where to begin. Regards, Joe |
