Dear all,
As we all know, in structural mechanics, we will encounter the problem of simply supported beam. In solids4Foam, how should we set the constraint that one end is a sliding support which is to fix the vertical displacement and move freely horizontally?
Thank you for reading!
All the best.

Typically this is done in the finite element method (and other vertex-based methods) by prescribing the degree of freedom for the left-bottom and right-bottom points of the beam.
In the cell-centred finite volume method, we prescribe boundary conditions at faces, and, as such, we cannot prescribe the motion of a mesh vertex/point; however, instead we can mimic this behaviour (in solids4foam) by using the fixedDisplacement condition (displacement is zero) on one face to the left of the bottom boundary and using fixedDisplacementZeroShear (vertical displacement is zero, tangential force is zero) on one face to the right of the bottom boundary.
You can create these single-face patches easily using the createTinyPatch utility that comes with solids4foam.
