Dear OpenFOAM users,

any one know where I can find solver for flow past circular cylinder in foam-extend-3.0 or OpenFoam-2.2.2?

Please if any provide me the information about name of the tutorials and solver. Many thanks in advanced

your question is not clear however you can use simpleFoam pimpleFoam ,... for solve flow around cylinder

Dear both mechy and hxaxtma,

thanks for your reply. I mean which tutorial either in OF-2.2.2 or foam-extend-3.0 can I get examples to solve flow past circular static cylinder?

Dear all,

Did any of you ever validated your CFD simulation of a static cylinder with experimental results. Or even compared the results to existing CFD cases? Could someone provide me with some reference values or point me in the right direction where I can find thrustworthy data to compare my case with. I am currently performing simulations at Re = 1000. Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Jan

Jan, Im trying to do this right now, but Im starting with a Re = 150 and 100. Im using this reference: http://repository.tudelft.nl/assets/...daa1b2/bos.pdf
He also used OpenFOAM, but I havent been able to reproduce the Drag Coeff and neither Strouhal Number. Im getting 1.44 for Drag, which should be close to 1.33, and 1.96 for Strouhal, which should be 1.83... If I manage to validate the case, I will let you know.
By the way, Im using pimpleFoam.

cheers
