Hello everyone,
I am pretty new and inexperienced with openFOAM (I am currently using version 2.1.1). My goal is to simulate a the flow of a cold gas (Helium at 77K) through a nano-pipe. I have started with the simplest case: incompressible Helium gas at room temperature and macro-pipe (several millimetres in diameter and pretty long). I have used icoFoam solver and retrieved a laminar flow as expected. However, now I need to pass to the next step -> compressible gas simulation. I want to start as simple as possible: room temperature, long pipe (cm or even m) and pressure driven flow (ie: declare inlet pressure, outlet pressure and obtain velocity profile). I have tried sonicFoam with no success. I have started with the forward step test case. It works fine, but as soon as I change any parameter the simulation will crash. For instance if I change the temperature from 1K to 100K in the initial conditions I will get segmentation fault -> CORE dumped error. If anyone has the slightest hint on how should I proceed and/or what solver should I tackle first for my compressible pressure driven flow simulation, feel free to answer me. Many thanks! |

Hi mateiu2003k,
Im doing a similar case and i am trying it with incompressible first as well, and was wondering what did you set as your pressure difference between your inlet and outlet? |
