Hello Everyone,

I am dealing with non spherical particles and wanted to know if any collision model exists in literature for arbitrary shaped particles. I can see that OF v2.3 has a drag model for non-spherical particles. Does this consider the particles to be arbitrarily shaped? Does OF or CFX or FLUENT offer a collision model for such particles. Also, I would really appreciate if someone could direct me to some articles on non spherical particles (specifically their collision models).

Thanks in Advance!

Best,
Nadish

You might want to have a look at the following paper. This will give you good idea about different ways to model non-spherical particles.

Lu, G., Third, J. R., & Müller, C. R. (2015). Discrete element models for non-spherical particle systems: From theoretical developments to applications. Chemical Engineering Science, 127, 425–465. doi:10.1016/j.ces.2014.11.050
