Hi,

To help get to grips with OpenFoam i'm trying to model a simple rectangular open channel. Surely something like this has been done before and there is a tutorial I could follow.

Is anyone aware of such a thing?

I recommend you to follow the official User Guide of OpenFOAM. The lid-driven cavity flow is a good example to perform a simple simulation.

In the folder $FOAM_TUTORIALS you have a fantastic compilation of resolved problems, which you can adapt to each particular case.

There is a tutorial called channel395 which models a flow between two parallel plates. You could modify the boundary conditions to achive a open channel.
