Hello everybody

I'm facing some difficulties with OpenFOAM. I've already looked up some similar problems but it seems that nothing is around on the web. Therefore I've just joint this online forum.

I've already done some quite few simulations with OpenFOAM, mostly with simpleFoam or pimpleFoam. This time I'm want to simulate a gas mixing chamber with different gases (compressible, transient and with kEpsilon). I'd like to use the solver called compressibleMultiphaseInterFoam, because the species are easy to integrate (e.g. alpha.O2 in the time directory).

However, as soon as I set-up my case, the simulation aborts. The error message is attached.

Now I want to ask, if somebody has experience with this solver and can help me to avoid the error message? Unfortunately there is no comparable tutorial with this solver around (only laminar flow - I'd like to simulate with kEpsilon turbulence model).

Please let me know if you desire my case in attachement.

Kind regards and many thanks!

The interFoam family of solvers are generally for multiple phases -- e.g. gas/liquid. It sounds like you're interested in a single phase (but multiple species). To simulate that I suggest trying reactingFoam -- just turn combustion off.

It seems that you are right. Thank you for your advice. But, since there is no reaction between the gases, should I turn off the combustion or chemistry?
And another question: What indicates the dimensionless files, e.g. CO2? Is that volume fraction, mass fraction or mole fraction?

You can turn both off. It uses mass fraction.
