I want to simulate compressible subsonic flow through a duct. What I am essentially trying to do is replicate an experimental setup.
The setup is shown in this image: https://ibb.co/WHmcx3V The solver I intend to use is rhoSimpleFoam in OF7 for compressible steady state flow with SST k-omega model. The target Y+ is 1. I am stuck at three issues: 1)I am confused about the boundary conditions at the start of the entrance section(section 1). Should I make use of pressureInletVelocity or totalPressure ? The reference literature I have, mentions it as “ambient” boundary condition with no reference to any specific solver. This makes me wonder, should I use a freestream ? That said, at the outlet I am using flowRateOutletVelocity. 2) What initial turbulence quantities should I use at the inlet and outlet of the setup? Since I don’t have the setup inlet velocity, I cannot calculate the turbulence quantities. 3)How should I proceed with the calculation of the first layer height for Y+ as I don’t have any inlet velocity values. Can someone please point me to the right direction ? |
