Hi all,
I am using soliddisplacementfoam to simulate the residual stresses in a plate as a laser passes over it. I have gotten decent results so far, however, my biggest hurdle is a problem I believe with boundary conditions. The plate in the simulation is in the x-y plane with the laser running parallel to the y-axis. If I measure sigma xx parallel to the x-axis (across the laser line) it always goes to 0 at the edges of the plate (see attached photo). I know experimentally and from literature that we should have tension at the laser line and compression at the edges. Can someone help me with this? Currently, my bottom boundary is a fixed value uniform field and all other walls are tractiondisplacement with uniform traction and value of (0 0 0). link to images: https://imgur.com/a/9vJaOyD |
