Hi Friends,

I am trying to determine which combustion model (e.g EDC, PaSR, Flamelet, CMC) FireFoam uses. I read in an FM Global presentation (https://www.engineering.leeds.ac.uk/...20fireFoam.pdf) that the Diffusion Combustion model uses Beta-PDF for SGS mixture fraction, so then I thought that it was a Flamelet Combustion Model. But then I also saw a change log for an older FireFoam version (https://code.google.com/p/firefoam-d...rce/detail?r=5) that said it is an Eddy Dissipation Combustion Model (EDC). Based on my understanding (I could be wrong), it can't be an EDC model and use a PDF for SGS mixture fraction. I have tried looking through the source code but am very unfamiliar with OpenFoam syntax. Sorry in advanced but I am relatively new to OpenFoam. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi Friends,

I have looked through the source code (infinitelyFastChemistry.C) and in fact FireFoam (using infinitely fast chemistry combustion) does use the EDC model:

wFuel == this->rho()/(this->mesh().time().deltaT()*C_)*min(YFuel, YO2/s.value());

since i guess deltaT ~ k/epsilon.

I also see the same that fireFoam has only one combustion model based on infitely fast chemistry. But I have seen some papers about fireFoam with mixture fraction based combustion model. I am not sure why mixture fraction combustion model cannot be used.

I'm trying to use fireFoam + DES+ PaSR to simulate the flow and combustion inside the channel, that is,of course, the interaction between vortex and flame front.

And,now the biggest problem is that I can run both fireFoam + LES + PaSR and reactingFoam + DES + PaSR. But fireFoam + DES + PaSR can't ignite normally.

To be exact, I have tried various ignition modes of setfields and fvoptions for several days, but they have not been successful.

At present, it is normal for fireFoam + LES + PaSR to simulate cold flow (pure flow without ignition).

So, to sum up, my question is: is fireFoam + DES+ PaSR feasible?

Any suggestion?Thank you all.

And my OF is of the version 7.
