Could not find mandatory etc entry (mode=ugo) 'controlDict'

Hello Everyone,

I started with openfoam recently and already have run some examples. But I decided to recreate my virtual machine and install everything again. Now all the examples I try to run return this message:

--> FOAM FATAL ERROR :
    Could not find mandatory etc entry (mode=ugo)
    'controlDict'

gustavo@gustavo-VirtualBox:~/openfoam/damBreak/damBreak$ ls
0  Allclean  Allrun  constant  system
gustavo@gustavo-VirtualBox:~/openfoam/damBreak/damBreak$ cd system/
gustavo@gustavo-VirtualBox:~/openfoam/damBreak/damBreak/system$ ls
blockMeshDict  decomposeParDict  fvSolution
controlDict    fvSchemes         setFieldsDict
gustavo@gustavo-VirtualBox:~/openfoam/damBreak/damBreak/system$

Anyone knows why?
