Hi everyone, and I hope that you are fine.
Firstly, I am relative beginner in CFD topics, specially in OpenFOAM, and I would like make known a problem that I have with modelling a channel and lateral weir using InterFOAM.
he problem that I have is a increment of shape water in the side of principal channel (see figures attached in the post), this phenomena is produced from the first moments of run model ![Confused](https://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/images/smilies/confused.gif) . Some characteristics of model are:
- Water level height constant, equal to 90cm.
- Flow rate constant, keeping same water level.
- Parallel simulation with three processors.
Additionally, some solutions and/or possibles causes that I considered in this problems are:
- Change interpolation scheme of “interfaceCompression vanLeer 1” to “upwind”, where this phenomena still occurs. (solution)
- I considered that solution is the interpolation scheme of phi, alpha (or all interpolations schemes). (cause)
- In consideration that variableFlowRAteInletVelocity estimated an average velocity on the bounday condition as scalar avgU = -flowRate/gSum(patch().magSf()*alphap); then I’ve considered reduce flow rate for prevent possibles increments in the water level. (solution)
I really appreciate your opinions and suggestions, thanks ![Smile](https://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/images/smilies/smile.gif) .
